Cracow as your classroom
Choosing a course here, you will not live in an ordinary city – you will live in the former capital of Poland, one of the most picturesque corners of Europe. You’ll quickly feel that Krakow is a place where history doesn’t stand in museums, but is alive at every turn. The majestic Wawel Royal Castle, the Gothic St . Mary’s Basilica and Kazimierz, teeming with unique energy, will become your everyday life. As you walk through the Main Square – Europe’s largest medieval marketplace – you will experience this uniquely Krakow blend of history and modernity.
This city is much more than just its historic landmarks; it is a vibrant cultural hub that you can become a part of. Imagine soaking up the atmosphere of the Jewish Culture Festival after classes, exploring the sounds of the Cracow Film Music Festival, or letting yourself be carried away by the music of Sacrum Profanum. If you love literature and art, your steps will naturally lead you to the International Cultural Centre or beneath the impressive façade of… Juliusz Słowacki Theater. In Cracow, you don’t just learn the language – you participate in Polish culture at its most inspiring.
However, Cracow is not only the Wawel Royal Castle or St. Mary’s Basilica. It’s a bustling metropolis that becomes the best backdrop for learning in the summer. During our summer Polish language course, we go beyond the school walls!
Learning in the outdoors
We organize outdoor lessons, city games and thematic workshops. You will have the opportunity to:
- To shop in Stary Kleparz, using newly learned words.
- Discuss art in trendy cafes in Kazimierz.
- Learn about the history of Nowa Huta during walking tours with a voiceover.
It is these experiences that make learning natural, and the vocabulary enters the head by itself.
Communication method - you speak Polish from the first day!
At Varia, we follow the rule: Polish for Polish. What does this mean? From the first day, regardless of your level, our lecturers communicate with you in Polish (rest assured, if you need an explanation of more difficult information in English – they will also manage!). We use gestures, images and context, so you naturally become accustomed to the sound of the language. You learn through role-playing, dialogues with colleagues: how to order a courier, ask for coffee with soy milk and ask for the shortest way to Michalowski Street – after our courses you will do it without blinking an eye!
Our classes are held in small, intimate groups, which allows for an individual approach to each student. We don’t “learn” the rules by heart – we act out scenes, take part in language games and simulate real-life situations. This will help you quickly break the language barrier and feel confident.
Our intensive Polish language course places great emphasis on building confidence in speaking. We gradually eliminate the fear of making mistakes and encourage spontaneous speech in natural settings. Regular conversation classes will allow you to break down language barriers and gain increasing freedom in communication.

More than lessons: workshops and social life
During the summer Polish course, learning doesn’t end in the classroom. We organize outdoor lessons that allow students to practice the language in authentic situations. While strolling through the Planty, visiting Kraków’s museums, touring the Wawel Royal Castle, or participating in cooking workshops, students have the opportunity to use the language in practice and get accustomed to real Polish. Practical learning in the field not only helps break language barriers but also allows for a better understanding of the cultural context and everyday life in Poland.
Our classes also include interactive activities such as city games, where students must find specific locations, speak with locals, or buy something at the market, using only Polish. This helps participants quickly gain confidence and overcome their reluctance to speak in real-life situations.
Your stay at the Varia Polish Language Center is not just time spent in the classroom. We have prepared a rich additional program for you, which will allow you to get to know the Polish soul even better and creatively help you learn Polish:
- Phonetic workshop: To make you sound like a “native” and stop being afraid of Polish rustling voices.
- Culinary workshop: We stick dumplings together and learn the names of the ingredients.
- Integration evenings: Because the best conversations in Polish take place over coffee or on the Vistula Boulevards.
- Cinema and Culture: We analyze Polish movies and idioms that you won’t find in traditional dictionaries.
And to that we talk, talk, talk, talk, and listen…. No boredom and no template – that’s us!
